Bible Study Genius (the "App") is published by Codeus, Inc. ("we", "us"). We built this App to help people read and study the Bible, and we try to collect as little information as possible to do that. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect and why.
What data we collect
- Account information. Creating an account is optional. If you choose to create one, we collect your email address and a password, which are handled by our third-party authentication provider, Clerk. We never see or store your password.
- Study data. Your reading progress, books marked as read, saved and highlighted verses, trivia and word-game results, and your Scripture IQ points and tier.
- Device and diagnostic data. Basic, aggregated information such as app version, device type, and crash reports, used to fix bugs and improve stability.
You can use the App without an account. In that case, your progress is stored only on your device and is not sent to us.
How we use your data
- To sign you in and keep your account secure, including Face ID sign-in on your device.
- To sync your reading progress, saved verses, and Scripture IQ across your devices.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the App.
- To respond to you when you contact support.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your study data for advertising, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Third-party services
- Clerk — account creation, sign-in, and authentication.
- Apple — app distribution and, if you make a payment or donation, payment processing. Purchase and donation processors handle payment details directly; we do not receive or store your card information.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies and only for the purposes described here.
Data retention
We keep your account and study data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your account information and study data from our systems, except where we are required to keep records by law. Anonymous diagnostic data may be retained in aggregate form.
Deleting your account or data
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@biblestudygenius.com from the address associated with your account. We will confirm and complete the request within a reasonable time.
Children's privacy
The App is suitable for general audiences, but it is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and a dedicated authentication provider, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your data safe.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
